Photo Guidelines

What?

Show us how you have rediscovered the Real FloridaSM in a Florida State Park! Whether it be a trek down your favorite trail, watching the sunrise or experiencing one of Florida’s natural wonders for the first time, share your favorite moments in these categories:


  1. One with Nature: If a Florida State Park could be your virtual background image, what would it look like? Share a landscape scene that shows the beauty, tranquility, love and balance of the Real FloridaSM.
  2. Trail Trekker: Florida State Parks offers access to 11 statewide trails plus additional opportunities for safe outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, equestrian and paddling adventures. Share your experience on a Florida State Park trail.
  3. Wildside: The wild places protected by Florida State Parks are home to abundant wildlife. It’s possible to see otters, deer, Florida scrub-jays, black bears and more! Capture memories of wildlife viewed in a Florida State Park.
  4. Park Fit: Our parks are your outdoor gym. How do you get fit in Florida State Parks?
  5. Sunscapes: Experience the beauty of a sunrise or sunset at a Florida State Park and share your experience.

Where?

Photos must be taken on the lands or within the facilities of Florida State Parks.


When?

Contest entries are accepted from Start of Contest October 1, 2020 at 12 a.m. ET to December 31, 2020 11:59 p.m. ET. Photographs must be taken between October 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020. Winners will be announced March 2021.


How to Submit?

  1. Submit photos at: www.FLStateParksPhotos.com/enter
  2. Only submit photos you have taken yourself.
  3. Submit photos in JPEG format. Photos that are 3 mb or larger with high resolution (300 DPI) are preferred. Photos that are too dark, blurry or less than 100KB will not be accepted.
  4. There is a limit of five (5) entries total per individual regardless as to the method of entry. Additional entries received from any individual beyond the fifth submission will be void.
  5. Please allow at least 2-3 business days for moderation before your photo appears on the website.

How are the photos judged?

Photos will be judged on the following criteria:

(i) originality, (ii) artistic composition, and (iii) whether the photograph showcases the best of Florida's state parks experiences and recreational opportunities based on the category entered. See Prizes here.


Who's eligible to enter?

  1. Legal residents of the 50 United States and DC, who are at least 18 years of age and of the age of majority or older in the state of their residence at the time of entry.
  2. Photographs must be taken by you and you must have the rights to the photo.

Who's ineligible to enter?

  1. Employees, Volunteers, Officers, Directors, Agents, Representatives, Park Concessionaires, Park Citizen Support Organizations and DEP Contractors of the participating agencies and sponsors and their family members are not eligible to win prizes.
  2. Professional photographers. This is an amateur photo contest. Anyone who makes 20% or more in photography will be disqualified.

What Not to Do

  1. Do not alter or manipulate photos except for cropping, red eye removal and/or adjustment of contrast and brightness.
  2. No watermarks or logos.
  3. Don't break any laws or rules.
  4. Don't do anything unsafe.
  5. Don't photograph anything that is inappropriate, indecent or obscene.
  6. No dogs in areas that are not allowed. No dogs off leash.
